The benefits of using technology in languages Y oung people’s familiarity with ICT offers a great opportunity to language teachers. It seems to us that a determined commitment to use this world, which is so familiar to young people, is a key to increasing the engagement of young people of all ages with languages. 5 step planning
Language topic to be used (structures and vocabulary)
What language skills are being assessed? What is the success criteria? E.g. (improve pronunciation, ask & answer Qs/ produce longer sentences with connectives etc.)
What tech would be best? How does it enhance the process? (publishing / creativity / redrafting/ motivation)
What tech skills will the students need? Do they know the tool? Will they need practice? How confident am I as teacher using the tool? Do I have a helpsheet they could use?
