Prepare for learning Agree learning outcomes Introduce new learning Explore the learning Apply the learning Review the learning Think about: How you welcome the students into the classroom Whether the classroom environment is properly set up for learning Having a clear 2-3 minute starter which links to previous learning Core Lesson Structure This core structure should underpin every lesson taught and be the basis of the initial planning.

Prepare for learning Agree learning outcomes Introduce new learning Explore the learning Apply the learning Review the learning Core Lesson Structure Use the terms Learning Objectives and Learning Outcomes These must be shared and explored with the students – if they aren’t how can a students know how to progress? Outcomes must be differentiated by grade. This core structure should underpin every lesson taught and be the basis of the initial planning.

5 Learning and Teaching at The Manor Academy
What new knowledge needs to be imparted to ensure that students can access higher-order learning? How have you differentiated the task? This does not mean endless teacher talk – what role does the teacher and the pupil take in this section? Prepare for learning Agree learning outcomes Introduce new learning Explore the learning Apply the learning Review the learning Core Lesson Structure This core structure should underpin every lesson taught and be the basis of the initial planning.

6 Learning and Teaching at The Manor Academy
Give students the time and opportunity to develop an understanding of the new information and to practice developing their skills. Students should be actively engaged in exploring the content. Encourage pupils to work collaboratively on the information they have been presented with. 7 Learning and Teaching at The Manor Academy
Students should participate in a task/or tasks that will allow them to demonstrate their developing understanding of the content that was presented. During this time the teacher and students may be involved in assessing and evaluating the outcomes of the students learning. Over time there should be a variety of techniques and methods used to determine the levels of achievement. 8 Learning and Teaching at The Manor Academy
Prepare for learning Agree learning outcomes Introduce new learning Explore the learning Apply the learning Review the learning A critical element of the learning process as at this point the teacher can challenge the students to make their learning explicit. It is useful to include review opportunities throughout the lesson so that teachers and students can identify challenges and supports, strengths and weaknesses. Teachers should plan questions to elicit insightful responses from the students. Review is a significant part of developing metacognitive awareness as a tool for powerful learning. Core Lesson Structure This core structure should underpin every lesson taught and be the basis of the initial planning.

10 mins NQT – Look at activities they have used and see where they fit in the lesson cycle Trainees – Look at the website and explore some activities that you want to pilot in the area you area of the cycle you have been given. Password = manorlearning

12 5 mins Feedback What did you learn in the time you had?

13 The lesson overview slide
5 mins The lesson overview slide What do you want them to know or understand from the lesson. Graded criteria of what the students will do G&T and SEND differences Key words for the lesson Real life links

14 Look at this lesson overview slide
10 mins Look at this lesson overview slide Discuss how each section meets the criteria… Be ready to feedback Learning Objectives: - To know the difference between supply and demand factors Understand how supply and demand factors effect the price of oil To be able to gather research on how the price of oil has changed in the past twelve months. Learning Outcomes/Repertoires of Practice: - A grade - Make an overall judgement using higher level connectives to explain reasons supported by evidence and referring to what it would depend upon. B grade - Apply and explain counter arguments to support overall point using evidence. C grade - Identify and explain the supply and demand factors that affect the price of oil Stretch and scaffold: - Scaffold: Students given statements and modelled answers Visual and text resources Levelled , differentiated writing frame in written task to demonstrate progress and learning Selective questioning of students Stretch: Web links encourage students to do independent research. Questions to encourage deeper thinking. Literacy for Learning: - Vocab key word sheets VCOP on desk for connectives Connective sheet SMSC and British values: - Students work in differentiated groups to encourage student- led learning. Students work in roles encourage and supporting each other Moral issues- the impact of the price of oil and its effects on the environment.
