Khan Academy ? A free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere  Non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan (not actor) at Mountain View, CA (USA)  Provides micro lectures in various subjects in the form of YouTube videos available in 65 languages.  Provides many other features viz. progress tracking, practice exercises and tools for teachers.  All resources are available for free to anyone around the world.  Also available as mobile app in Android App Store or Windows App  In April 2012, the founder and executive director of Khan Academy, Salman Khan, was listed among the Time 100 Most Influential People.

eContents ?  The videos show step-by-step doodles and diagrams on an electronic blackboard.  An adaptive web-based exercise system that generates problems for students based on skill and performance.  Overhauls the traditional classroom by using software to create tests, grade assignments, highlight the challenges of certain students and encourage those doing well to help struggling classmates.  The micro lectures are helpful because they can be paused by students while classroom lectures can not.

How to use ?  Micro lectures and other YouTube videos on various subjects can be accessed directly without logging in.

There are currently 6 types.  Video library with over 6500 videos in various topic areas.  A personalized learning engine to help people track what they have learned and recommend what they can do next.  Ask a question, see all the answers, answer the question, report a mistake, search subjects.  Discoveries and projects in Science Section.  Can interact with the teacher online.  Dynamic or Adaptive eContents for Students who need remedies, are at grade-level and are above grade level

Benefits  One can learn at his own pace.  Student is part of a global classroom.  When students don’t fully understand a math concept or miss a few classes and want to catch up, they can search for relevant videos or exercises to get the instruction they need.  When students want to fill in any previous gaps in their learning, they can move through appropriate grade- or subject-level missions or search for specific skills they need help on.  If students just want to explore beyond their regular coursework, they can try other math missions, or even explore the wonders of computer programming and art history!  Useful tool to help students take the reins of their own learning, especially when they don’t have access to a tutor or teacher at all times.  If students have access to internet outside of class either at home or in a computer lab, can use missions as a supplement to their classwork.  Adaptive software and instant feedback can guide students on their individual learning path. This allows them to practice the skills, understand which ones they have truly mastered and where they need to focus more effort. Many students succeed when they learn at their own pace, are motivated to challenge themselves and have access to high-quality resources !

For Teachers & Parents  Can create e-class which can be accessed anywhere anytime.  Students have diverse levels of comprehension and pre-existing math knowledge, despite being placed in the same class. Encourage your students to use missions for individualized math practice  Missions are individualized math experiences grouped by specific grade levels and subject areas.  Empowers coaches of all kinds to better understand what their children or students are up to and how best to help them.  See at a glance whether a child or student is struggling or hit a streak and is now far ahead of the class.  Coach dashboard provides a summary of class performance as a whole as well as detailed student profiles.  Parents can interact with teachers on realtime and take feedback about their children, give suggestions etc.  Personalized learning resource for all the ages.

How to login ?  To take tests, create class, grade assignments, track performance etc. log in via Google / Facebook / Khan Academy account  Click "Log in" option at the top right of Home Page  We can login as (i) Student (ii) Teacher (iii) Parent
