Summary of RIKEN visit

Chamber Top plate Bottom plate Middle cylinder

Chamber: bottom plate design Beam Microball on stand + target ladder on drive + collimator Scintillator, on platform with drive

Beamline

RIKEN facility checks Viewed data collection area, possible location of setup area Planned how to setup and test equipment Discussed path to move chamber from setup area to beamline (requires forklift and crane) Discussed options to align chamber to beamline Target change remote or manual?

Plan for Experimental Setup Set up away from beamline to test detectors, electronics, motion of drives Remove detectors, electronics before moving chamber. Hook chamber up to beamline 5 days before exp Reattach detectors, electronics while connected to beamline Check alignment! (Aki has some ideas for this) Pump down chamber If vacuum is good, remove only the top plate to work on the chamber (this still requires crane)

Need to do Before Experiment: Beam calculations using U primary beam Design, construction of: – Microball mount, including collimator – Scintillator/beam counter, mounted on movable platform – Target drive mechanism – Adapters for flanges
