1 Status of and Installation Plan for DC Gas Control System and Target Work Scheduling Meeting 4 August 2006 PSI W. Molzon, Feng Xiao

2 June 21 2006W. Molzon -- MEG Collaboration Meeting2 DC Gas System Hardware Status Hardware Status Plumbing in crate (valves, mass flow controllers, interfaces) complete Will add high pressure gas monitor Will incorporate target movement into gas control – eventually move to insertion tube control Finishing wiring of SCS2000 system this week – minor delays on some parts of SCS2000 system Can install in area next week Met with safety people and Wataru and no problems foreseen Vacuum pumps on site, being modified Pressure sensors to be mounted on interior cable tray (test magnetic effects) Connections to chamber Driven by chamber and endcap status Choose location now Ready to run gas lines – perhaps install a small covered tray Gas feedthroughs foreseen – appropriate flanges on endcaps Ongoing discussion on distribution helium in COBRA (interfaces with TC) Electrical feedthroughs being designed in common with DC HV, other LV lines (Malta); best to run electrical lines after paddle cards available Connections to vent and vacuum Minor questions about helium collection line and vent line pressures

3 June 21 2006W. Molzon -- MEG Collaboration Meeting3 DC Gas System Software Status LabView control program ready – test next week with SCS2000 system SCS2000 control program with Labview monitor and user interface ready in few days –Old SCS1000 program was tested for most functions – very good control (<1 Pa) –Modifications for new code being done –Week of testing of all functions necessary (next week)

4 June 21 2006W. Molzon -- MEG Collaboration Meeting4 Target System Status Hardware essentially complete (thanks to Andy, Florian, Dieter for some machining fixes) Control system mounted on DC support – test pneumatic cylinder operation next week Incorporate control system into DC gas system next week Alignment issues –Pre-align target in lab with respect to DC frame (survey required) – hopefully next week –Check reproducibility of target mount on stem (remove target when working with DC system) –Check reproducibility of target when inserted and retracted Currently missing position monitor (reflective optical switch) –Likely available in 2 weeks –Prepare for installation next week Prepare and run gas and electrical lines with the gas system lines Target material – still uncertain – propose to use mechanically good material for first engineering run Simulation to understanding precision of alignment with tracks
