The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  How can we influence the way the budget is spent?  What can we do to make the healthcare system in our part of the world to help patients be more knowledgeable about what is available and get the most from the services available?

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Patient Participation Groups (or Patience Reference Groups) exist at most practices  They offer a link between the Surgery and its patients, to enable issues to be raised, improvements made and communicate facts both ways between the Surgery and its patients

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  PPGs also provide a link to the CCG through its Stakeholder Reference Group  The groups are made up of patients who meet regularly with practice representatives.  They are a useful two way conduit for individuals and other groups to engage with the practice and CCG

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Maximising the benefit to the Community  What are our biggest issues?  What groups work in our Practice’s area  Which have need of help or support?  Which can help our group increase its beneficial impact on the community

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Are there other groups operating in our area with whom we could work in partnership?  Are there groups in our area who can help us to focus on the more needy groups or individuals?

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Is there anyone here who would like to make contact with us or to get in touch with their local group?  How can we all work together to help in the changes that have to be made to NHS service design?

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  What Can the SRG do for our PPGs?  How does the PPG interact with the SRG  Does the PPG get key messages from the SRG?  Does the SRG get key messages from the PPG?  If not, why not? What needs to be done?

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Objective Setting between the PPG and the SRG  This works both ways  A means to shape the future both from the PPG back to the CCG and vice versa  Mutual identification of any key items that each can tackle on the other’s behalf

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Goal Setting  What does your group want to achieve?  Does the Constitution (or Terms of Reference document) align with the goals of the group  As with any group of volunteers it’s important to keep the group fresh so the following may help….

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Review of the Constitution  Is the need for review written into the Constitution and is the frequency adequate?  Are the Group’s funding arrangements optimized and how are they reviewed and refined?  Is the Group’s Officer selection process robust and is the frequency correct?

The Patients' VoiceJune 2014 The Patients’ Voice  Do you have any Questions or want to cover anything we have not dealt with today?
