1 Almost everything you need to know about becoming an Eagle Scout in ten simple slides

2 Earn 21 Merit Badges including: Camping Citizenship in the Community Citizenship in the Nation Citizenship in the World Communications Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving Environmental Science Family Life First Aid Cycling or Hiking or Swimming Personal Management Personal Fitness

3 Perform Eagle Project Officially this is called the Eagle Scout LEADERSHIP Service Project The intent is: To demonstrate leadership To perform a service for the community To learn from the experience

4 Serve in Leadership While a Life Scout serve for a 6 month period in one of the approved positions. Two critical items: You must serve for 6 months or longer The position must be approved ( see the Eagle Scout Rank Application for approved list)

5 Complete the Paperwork Every significant event in your life comes with paperwork. In every case it must be filled out completely and accurately or it will not be accepted. To become an Eagle you must complete the Eagle Scout Rank Application. The form must be completed before your 18 th birthday.

6 Attend a Scoutmaster Conference When you have: completed all merit badges served your leadership position completed your Eagle project (along with the project write up) FINISHED your Eagle Rank Application (with all dates and signatures completed) Prepared your Statement of Ambitions and Life Purpose (requirment #6) you can schedule a Scoutmaster Conference

7 Survive a Board of Review The Board of Review is conducted like an interview. You are interviewing for the position of Eagle Scout. You will need to show us what you have learned and how you have grown. Reflect on your journey, the good times and the bad, before you come to the Board of Review.

8 Approval of an Eagle Candidate After the Board of Review your paperwork is delivered to the Circle 10 office where: Merit Badges and Rank Advancements are reviewed Dates of leadership positions are reviewed All required signatures are reviewed Your approved application is then sent to the National Office for a final review and processing Final approval is received 4 – 8 weeks after the Board of Review

9 Time to Celebrate Your Eagle packet will be presented to you and your parents at the next Troop 890 Court of Honor. It is your responsibility to plan your individual Court of Honor. The more you put into it the better it will be.

10 Final Thoughts The leadership of Troop 890 will do everything it can to assist our Scouts but we can not change the fact that EVERYTHING MUST BE FINISHED BEFORE YOUR 18 TH BIRTHDAY. If you have a question ask Start preparing your Eagle application now
