12 The Path to Eagle Eagle Project Requirements Project must benefit community No minimum time or cost Cannot benefit BSA Approval from Troop 202 Committee Approval from District Advancement Chairperson Fundraising application may be required if outside of BSA inner circle

13 The Path to Eagle Eagle Project Process 1.Decide on a charity to work with for your project 2.Speak with person in charge of volunteer services 3.Agree on scope of project 4.Make sure all approvals from charity have been obtained

14 The Path to Eagle Eagle Project Process 1.Present project concept to Troop 202 Eagle Project Committee 2.Email project to District Advancement Chairperson for approval and project workbook signature 3.Start fundraising (if necessary)

15 The Path to Eagle Eagle Project Process 1.Recruit labor for the project (you are supposed to lead, not perform all of the work) 2.Coordinate with charity for completion of project 3. Document project and finish Eagle Project Workbook with final signatures

16 The Path to Eagle Eagle Project Potential Pitfalls Charity wants a different project or approvals can take time District does not approve project Fundraising is not effective Help may not be able to work on date you need them Average project from start to finish takes 6 months

25 The Path to Eagle Eagle Scout Board of Review Board is comprised of Committee Chairperson, Troop Advancement Chairperson, Scout choice and District Advancement Chairperson Normally about 45 minutes long Can convene up to 90 days after Scout is 18 years old if all Eagle requirements completed prior to 18 th birthday Extension can be granted by National for 90- 180 days

26 The Path to Eagle Path to Eagle Summary Pick your Mentor once you achieve Life Scout Rank Don’t wait on completing the Eagle Killer merit badges Give yourself 6 mos. to complete your project As soon as you get in project mode, start getting letters of recommendation, writing a life statement, and working on your application DON’T BE A LIFE SCOUT FOR LIFE!
