Medway Sports Development Strategy Provides a co-ordinated approach where partners can work together to develop sporting potential and health in Medway and prioritise strategic projects and hi-light the importance of sport. Linking the benefits to - improved public health, social inclusion, community safety, regeneration and life long learning. VISION FOR MEDWAY: A place all young people get a good start in sport and recreation A place where people of all ages have high quality enjoyable opportunities to stay involved in sport throughout their lives A place in which all sports participants have opportunities to improve and achieve their own personal sports goals A place where people will be encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles through active living and enable the socially disadvantaged to feel socially included

Partners S.D.T. = Small team of Sports Development Officers (S.D.O.’s) leading the Strategy after much consultation with partners such as: Voluntary sports clubs and governing bodies of sport Schools. Colleges and Sports Colleges and their staff Kent County Council and other Local Authorities, Sport England, Youth Sport Trust, Sports Coach UK Medway and Swale PCT Sports volunteers and sports coaches Other depts. in Council including Leisure Centres, Green Spaces team etc. Sport is organised by a wide variety of organisations and individuals/volunteers. The SDTeam have a limited time resource and so co-ordinate the strategy which includes a whole host of activities and development programmes with partners. They cannot single-handily deliver every single action point/event/festival/training programme on their own! Partnership is KEY…………………..
