Unit 2 OCR Nationals – LEVEL 3 AO1 and AO2

Technology Today. 1. So. Now you’ve got your groups sorted. 2. You need to decide WHO will do WHAT – and by WHEN using appropriate planning tools, eg mind maps, thought-showers, spidergrams. This might be produced using planning software, eg mind-mapping software, but this is not a requirement.

From the Board… Evidence will need to show the allocation of individual tasks to members of the group. It is not appropriate for one candidate to undertake all the research, another to undertake the writing of text, etc. Instead, content should be divided up between the group, ensuring that the division is roughly equal, to allow the completion of the remaining tasks in this unit. The group needs to set deadlines, which for the higher levels must be clearly defined in a Gantt chart. Again, this might be produced using specialist planning software, but this is not a requirement.

Success criteria Your criteria must be “clearly measurable”. Include an explanation of what YOU will be doing to contribute to the work of the group as a whole.

PLEASE NOTE - from the Board “Candidates’ grades for this Assessment Objective will be determined by both the work produced by the group and the effectiveness of their own contribution…Candidates working at a high level will contribute effectively to the group work, helping the final planning documents meet the requirements of the higher levels”

Investigate different communication methods Using the information from the other slideshows… investigate different communication methods that can be used for collaborative working, also a range of methods that can be used to share information, including document editing tools

“different communication methods” Such as… list/group forums chatrooms VLEs Intranet, extranet Instant Messaging (IM) Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) browser-based conferencing / teleconferencing online whiteboard online collaborative organiser

Requirements PASS = 4 MERIT = 5 DISTINCTION = 6 REMEMBER TO INCLUDE EXAMPLES SHOWING HOW YOU COULD USE THEM IN YOUR PROJECT – AND THEN USE THEM!

“methods that can be used to share information” Such as… collaborative editing such as reviewing documents and inserting comments document versions merging document information from different users, including compare and merge sharing diaries/setting up meetings wikis blogs Content Management System (CMS)

Requirements PASS = 3 MERIT = 4 DISTINCTION = 5 REMEMBER TO INCLUDE EXAMPLES SHOWING HOW YOU COULD USE THEM IN YOUR PROJECT – AND THEN USE THEM!
