 Research has shown that children make the most progress in school when parents are actively engaged in their child’s learning  Year 3 is a critical year to engage children in reading and promote a life-long love and enjoyment of reading  Daily reading is expected: please comment and sign in the reading record – this can be used as a home/school contact book. At present we change children's books and monitor progress daily Home learning

 Differentiated homework is given once a week on a Friday to be handed in on a Tuesday. Children benefit best from sharing their homework tasks with parents. Please add your own comments at the end and ensure self-assessment is completed.  Spellings and maths passport targets are also sent home on Friday and are tested on a Friday.  We have a number of sheets to support with maths passport targets if parents would like them.  Children are enjoying the challenge of ‘Mad Minute’ tables programme- please help your child learn their target table.  Communication to parents is via letters home, reading records and website  Please return any reply slips to us (and not the office) as soon as possible  Please let us know if there are any concerns/ family worries that may affect your child’s well-being at school so we can support them Communication

Progress is tracked closely over the year via written tests and teacher assessment Reading and spelling ages are tested in October and June Attainment and progress
