October 29th, 2001 Leading application dedicated to leverage mobile operators ARPU : Evolution of the relative importance of ARPU generated by unified messaging revenues 1 - Perspectives of Messaging services : Evolution of Messaging services revenue generation

October 29th, 2001 How will Messaging-related services ARPU will reach that level?  The main services that will create traffic and ARPU over messaging service will, at the beginning, be SMS and voic consultation  Use of messaging through mobile networking as an additional information channel to SMS services  Customers will be progressively turning their use of signalling devices from the SMS world (easy to use, but difficult to store and forward, to consult with another device than the mobile device) to e- mail world (almost as easy to use than SMS, but easy to use, forward and consult) 2 - Evolution towards Multi Media Messaging: Evolution of Messaging services revenue generation

October 29th, 2001 How will Messaging-related services ARPU will reach that level?  It will be indeed of a great importance at that time that customers, who will be notified that there are some voic s they can consult, will be notified, at the same time, that they have s in their mail boxes.  The unified messaging device that will have been put in place by mobile network operators will then become the first gateway through messaging activities. 2 - Evolution towards Multi Media Messaging: Evolution of Messaging services revenue generation

October 29th, 2001 What about migration towards rich media?  It will be induced by the appearance of real UMTS- compatible access devices (meaning dual GSM & UMTS devices as well as including a friandly user interface)  It could be favoured through implementation of customized portals, dedicated to customers. From that portal, customer will find access to their various messaging boxes (voice, and fax), but also to their favorites, portfolios, etc….  Unifed messaging servers could then become gateways to rich media content servers. 2 - Evolution towards Multi Media Messaging: Evolution of Messaging services revenue generation
