iPad TIPS & Tricks Karla Kiper Instructional Technology Facilitator

Tip #1:Shut Down Your iPad! When you press the power button on the iPad it really just turns off the screen. To recover from a “freeze- up” or to save battery power: hold down both the power button and Home button until the red slider appears on the screen. Slide it and the iPad will shut down. Give it a minute and then you can restart it by pressing the power button again.

Tip #2:Add Apps to the Dock There are four default apps in your dock at the bottom of the iPad screen. But you can actually add two more. Tap and hold one of the app icons till it starts dancing. Then move it on to the dock.

Tip#3: Search Using the Spotlight Hit the home button on the home screen Start typing and you will see contacts, s, and Apps

Tip#4: Add Your Favorite Websites to Your Home Screen Turning a website into a link on the home screen saves time. Choose the rectangle with the arrow next to the url field. Choose “Add to Home Screen” from the dropdown list.

Tip#5: Take Screenshots Using Your iPad Click the power button on the top right corner of your iPad. While holding that button down, click the iPad button. After hearing the clicking sound go to the photos on your iPad!

Tip#6: Get Rid of Annoying Notifications! Do you get messages from Apps on your iPad that you want to go away? Select “Settings” Select “Notifications” Select the App you want to stop sending alerts Turn the notifications slider to “off”.

Tip#7: Group Your App Icons Grouping your Apps into categories keeps them from getting lost! Touch and hold an App until it starts shaking. Drag it to another App you want to group it with. Give your App group a name and that’s it!

Tip#8:Get Back Deleted Apps Strategy #1: Go to the iTunes store, search for the App, and download it again. Strategy #2 If you have synced your iPad with iTunes, go to the Apps tab of iTunes. You should see your App to download it again.
