Jefferson becomes President Thomas Jefferson is given the Presidency, in large part thanks to Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton convinced some Federalists voters in the House of Representatives to vote against Aaron Burr.

Adams’ Final Night John Adams appointed several Federalist judges and political allies to key positions throughout the government on his final night in office. He did this in order to make life as difficult as possible for Thomas Jefferson.

Jefferson’s Policies Jefferson believed in the concept of “laissez-faire”, a French term meaning hands off. This meant that he wanted the government to be less involved than it currently was.

Marbury v. Madison This court cases established a new process called Judicial Review which set 3 rules 1.The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. 2.If in conflict with another law, the Constitution must be followed 3.The judicial branch decides if a law must be nullified, canceled or ruled unconstitutional.
