5 Hamilton supported Jefferson because he was “by far not so dangerous a man” as Burr

6 Election of 1800 House voted 36 times Jefferson wins (finally!) 12 th Amendment added to Constitution – separate ballot for president and vice- president

7 Jefferson’s Policies Jefferson chose a Cabinet Secretary of State Secretary of the Treasury James Madison Albert Gallatin

8 Jefferson’s Policies Kept national government small. Allowed Alien & Sedition Acts to expire. Lowered military spending. –Reduced the size of the army and navy. Nice transition from one political party to another!!
