Presentation transcript:

It is split into two sections, section A and section B. Objective: To ace your GCSE Some info to start: Your exam is 2 hours long and worth 120 marks. It works out at a mark a minute. It is split into two sections, section A and section B. You will need a pencil, a pen, some colours, a sharpener and a rubber. Borrow mine if needed but please bring them back at the end.

You get marks for using colour Objective: To ace your GCSE When answering a drawing question press lightly until you are happy with the shape then add colour and black pen. Some general tips: You get marks for using colour You get marks for showing a range of presentation skills, so use your 3d drawing skills to maximum effect. When you have finished, look back at your drawings and ask yourself, do they make sense and would someone else be able to make this product using these drawings and notes? As you read the question underline the key words, make sure you know what it is asking and that you have answered this. Make sure you have covered the topic of the question you are answering, e.g food/ textiles/ ceramics. You will need to know details of construction techniques and materials and we havent covered these.

Stilton is a type of what? 1 mark Objective: To ace your GCSE Annotate everything Seem to of finished a long time before everyone else? Have you filled in all of the pages? Look at how many marks are awarded and how many lines you have to answer the question. If it’s a two mark question and you have two lines, why not bullet point? Question: Stilton is a type of what? 1 mark If your not sure steer clear of just re writing the question, it wastes time and space.

Objective: To ace your GCSE Section A is the design question. You will have a mood board and need to design something for someone reflecting the moodboard. You will need to write a design specification for the product, and the question will end with you evaluating your product against the specification. Remember it is ok that your product didn’t meet your specification but you need to say why and what you would do about it. The Catch: This question will take you a large chunk of time, why don’t you come back to it at the end once you have completed section B. Read through it though so you can think about it whilst you are doing section B

This is the knowledge section. Show what you know! Objective: To ace your GCSE Section B: This is the knowledge section. Show what you know! A big feature of the show what you know section is the big mark question. It usually starts with : “You are going to design and make a product that will be manufactured in school/some other place in batches of 200.” Make sure you read this question fully from the start to the finish. They will ask you how you would make a batch of this product, then ask you to draw the process. When you pick a process make sure you can draw it.

We know what the main focus of section A will be: Objective: To ace your GCSE We know what the main focus of section A will be: “Packaging for Fragrance products.” We don’t know any more than this but I think its safe to assume that you will have to come up with a fragrance product and then package it with everything in between.

Objective: To ace your GCSE The following acronym is all about packaging. What do the letters stand for? P I C T D Protection Inform Containing Transportation Preservation Display You will probably be asked about this but you will also need to consider it for the design of your packaging.

Objective: To ace your GCSE Mind map what information will appear on the packaging for a scent bottle package. Did you get any of these

Objective: To ace your GCSE What are these symbols?

How would you print on packaging? Objective: To ace your GCSE Printing and cutting: How would you print on packaging? How would you cut and crease packaging? What specific material would you use to make the packaging out of?

How would you print on packaging? Lithography Objective: To ace your GCSE Printing and cutting: How would you print on packaging? Lithography 2. How would you cut and crease packaging? Die cutting and creasing 3. What specific material would you use to make the packaging out of? Cardboard, solid white board

Heres a few to look at and maybe assemble if there’s time? Objective: To ace your GCSE Nets: A net is the shape of the packaging when it is all laid out flat. I think it is fair to assume that you will need to design your own net for your fragrance bottle. Heres a few to look at and maybe assemble if there’s time?

Objective: To ace your GCSE

Objective: To ace your GCSE Just remember with this section that you will need to evaluate your design against the design specification that you wrote. Also remember to bear in in mind who you are making the bottle for, and add lots of colour, dimensions, annotations and as much as you c an from PICT PD

This person is into rock and roll, design the packaging for an aftershave for them. Use the net design from earlier. 15

Objective: To ace your GCSE Delete as applicable: I hope that you have found this session useful. I am sorry that I cannot be here/ delighted that I can be here to go through this with you.
