15 Practice What are the advantages of using more than one method? How/when will you practice these techniques? “You have not learned anything until you have memorised it” You need to consolidate material at least four times to ensure it is effectively stored in your long term memory

16 Be a smart reviser Take lots of breaks; Research has shown that time frames between 30 minutes to 45 minutes are optimal session for peak concentration. Longer sessions and your mind wanders Use another part of your mind in the break, do a physical activity or mediation, so that you return to your studies refreshed Use music, (if it helps you learn). Use lots of colours, symbols and acronyms. Mind maps, spider diagrams and shape charts are all useful. Use big sheets of paper. Practice makes perfect. Familiarise yourself with the exam structure, the types of questions asked, the marking scheme and how you are going to manage your time. 23 Sample Examiner’s Report Question 2 “… The majority of students showed good knowledge of either the product life cycle, the marketing mix or both. Some students found it difficult to focus their response on just one element and/or relating it to the short life cycle and often drifted between several elements or all therefore losing the direction of their response. A few students had obviously spent some time drawing nicely presented product life cycle charts which was unnecessary.”
