Ralph Lane Colony Roanoke Island located beyond the Outer Banks Colonists arrived too late to plant and lost most of supplies Main purpose was to find a place suitable for settlement Violence between Natives and colonists killed many. Problems with Ralph Lane Colony Begin Reading pp Drake came and brought the remaining colonists back to England. When food ran out, colonists began to rob the natives. Five Ships left for England to get supplies.

The Lost Colony Return to Roanoke 1. The next year 117 people including women and children arrived at Roanoke Island. 2. John White returned as Governor 3. Again they arrived too late to plant. 4. John White left for England to get supplies.

England and Spain fight When White returned to England, we could not get a ship to return due to a war between Spain and England. The war kept White from returning for three years. When he returned there was no colony – only a small clue the words Croatoan carved on a sign.
