THE RESULT OF EXPLORATION (RESULT) Learning Target Students can describe how European exploration led to European domination of the Americas, Africa, and Asia

THE RESULT OF EXPLORATION (RESULT) R – Results of Exploration Discovery of a new eastern passage to Asia by the Portuguese Discovery of a new world by the Spanish Death of Native American populations in Central America Beginning of European slave trade in Africa Mass migration to the Americas in search of wealth

THE RESULT OF EXPLORATION (RESULT) E – English Colonies are formed In 1585 Sir Walter Raleigh established a colony at Roanoke Island (North Carolina) Within three years all the colonists disappeared In 1607the English established another colony called Jamestown, VA (named after King James I)

THE RESULT OF EXPLORATION (RESULT) L – Lots of help from the Natives Spanish ships introduced the natives to food and animals from Europe These same ships carried corn and potatoes back to Europe Corn and potatoes were easy to grow which resulted in fewer Europeans died from starvation Native Americas grew other crops like tobacco which Europeans first used as medicine then it became an important cash crop as it’s use increased
