Food Groups We are now going to look at some photos of foods from different groups. Fruit and vegetables Bread, rice, potatoes, pasta Milk and dairy Meat, fish, eggs, beans High fat/high sugar foods Encourage pupils to put their hands up before being asked to answer.

Which food group?

You are going to design a meal This meal should be a celebration meal so you will want to think carefully about what you will want to eat. Think about the 5 food groups and try to include them all in your meal. You will be drawing and then painting your meal on your paper plate.

Divide your paper plate into 5 parts –one part for each of the 5 food groups The 5 parts will need to be similar to the divisions on the Eat Well plate

What have we learned today? Can you name the 5 different food groups? Did we like all the same foods as our friends or not? What makes a good meal? How do we design a dinner for a celebration?
