1 Guidelines To Nutrition/ My Plate Taylor Byington Period 2

2 There are five main food groups,  Grains  Vegetables  Fruits  Dairy  Protein

3 Grains are mainly,  Oats  Rice  Wheat some examples of grains are, some examples of grains are,  Bread  Pasta  cereal

4 Vegetables Vegetables are divided in to 5 groups:  Dark green  Starchy  Red and orange  Beans  peas

5 fruits  Any fruit that has 100% of juice is counted in the fruit group  Half of your plate at any meal should be fruits and vegetables

6 Dairy and Protein Any milk product and foods that have dairy are in this group, such as, Any milk product and foods that have dairy are in this group, such as,  Yogurt  Cheese Protein is mainly the meats that you eat such as, Protein is mainly the meats that you eat such as,  Ham  Chicken  fish

8 My plate My Plate helps you  Balancing Calories  Make half your plate fruits and vegetables  Drink water instead of sugary drinks

10 Health Triangle  Mental- help your brain function better  Social- you will be able to interact better  Physical- you will be in shape and your organs will function better

11 Personal story…  My personal story is that I play soccer, and to be able to be a good soccer player you have be in shape. To be in shape you have to be able to eat right and control what your eating. You also have to exercise and to stay on top of it. To be able to do all these things you have to have good health and follow the guidelines of nutrition.

12 Activity!! Activity!!  The chewy granola bars represent the Grains  The carrots represent the Vegetables  The apples represent the Fruits  The cheese sticks represent the Dairy  The nuts represent the Protein
