What’s happening? What do we know?

This is an image that touches me. This image of a starving child in Uganda sends a strong wave of sympathy and disgust through me. This photo says a lot without using any words. The first point is contrasts. I would say there is a contrast in age- a childs hand versus that of an adult. The second contrast is white vs. black- a racial difference that we have been trying to end in North America but when we look world wide some of our poorest nations have African roots. The last difference I see is the have versus the have nots- the developed world versus the undeveloped. It makes me sad that in 2014 we still have kids that starve to death. It seems inhumane that we are a nation of overweight people and people who throw away or waste food and yet we have situations like this where people are starving to death. It also makes me angry for all the times I have actually said “Im starving”, times I have complained about my weight and even for all the times that I have not donated to these causes. No human should die of hunger.
