ADVANCED GEOMETRY Mrs. Sanchez

Advanced Geometry Throughout the year, students will learn different comparisons between shapes and measurements and also how to figure out areas, perimeters and other calculations of circles, squares, parallelograms, rhombi, etc.

Teacher Webpage Students MUST copy or print out the PowerPoint slides prior to the day’s lesson. Students can access homework worksheets if they are absent. Students can access upcoming dates and directions for journals and projects.

Homework It will always be written on the board. I provide worksheets as homework assignments. Highly suggest that students keep these worksheets in a folder to study from. Any assignment that must be handed in will not be accepted late. If absent, students are to me the assignment on the due date. Homework counts for 15% of the grade and will be entered once a week.

Tests/Quizzes Tests and quizzes count for 85% of the grade. Students know when the test/quiz will be given about a week in advance. If they are absent on the day of the review, they are still responsible to take the test/quiz. If they are absent on the day of the test, they have to me by the end of the day to make an appointment to make it up before school or during lunch.

Extra Help Everyday I am available before school after 7:30am and after school. Sometimes I have a zero period on Tuesdays and Thursdays for SAT Prep. In addition, the math resource room is available. There is a teacher located in that room every lunch period and willing to help students with their questions.

Books Books are kept in the classroom. However, students can sign out a book for the year if they ask for it. I have also provided each student with a digital version of the textbook that has extra examples, practice materials and an online tutor function.

Journals Students are expected to write weekly journals. They are to choose one topic that we learned that week and write about its relevance and uses in real world applications. These are submitted through the google classroom every marking period. Directions, examples and weekly dates are on my webpage.

Extra Credit Bank Students have taken a pre-assessment. They received extra credit points based on how many questions they got correct. Whenever I return a test or quiz, students can use points from their bank to raise their score. Students will receive 2 extra credit points for every time to go the resource room to receive help.
