Individual Project

 A heart valve disease occurs when the heart valves do not work the way should

 The heart valves lie a the exit of your heart chambers and maintain blood flow through the heart, and the flow moves freely right to left into your ventricles. As it flows the ventricles get full, and the tricuspid valves shut, preventing blood to flow backward. Then the ventricles begin to pump out blood.

 Valvular Stenosis- This occurs when a heart valve opening is smaller then normal due to stiff or fused leaflets. The narrowed opening may make the heart work very hard to pump blood through it.  Valvular insufficiency- Also called regurgitation, incompetence or “leaky” this occurs when a valve does not close tightly. If it does not close, the blood flow will tend to leak backwards, which makes the heart work harder.

 Shortness of breath of difficulty catching breath  Weakness or dizziness  Discomfort in your chest  Palpitations  Swelling of your ankles, feet, or abdomen  Rapid weight gain

 Heart surgeons and other specialist in the heart valve disease risk determine the treatment depending on your condition  Treatments include: -Monitoring the disease incase of medical check ups. -Medications. They might not cure the heart valve disease but they can reduce the hearts workload and regulate heart rhythms. -If the disease is too serious, medical clinics recommend Surgery - Your doctor may perform a balloon valvotomy to treat the narrowed valves.
