There is a lot to compete with in this world!  Computers  Tablets  Cell Phones  Music Players  Handheld Games A Changing World!

 Students are used to moving from one activity to the next very quickly  When students have so many distractions it is easy for them to become disengaged educationally  Keep them engaged with current-technology enhanced lessons Why Technology?

 Teaches students valuable technology skills  Engages them in coursework  Students can be creative and take greater ownership for their work How Technology Helps

 Ask other teachers what they do with technology  Talk to the technology department about ideas  Take a class  Start creating assignments that require technology Get Started!

 Be current on state standards for your subject area  Look at current lessons and assignments for ideas  Focus on incorporating multimedia into your subject matter, not the other way around Decide what is important

 Use software and applications that students need now and in the future  Use current technology Keep it relevant

 Images and information are easy to come by on the internet  Make sure students understand they are borrowing someone else’s work  Teach the importance of crediting sources with lessons on citations  Also teach limits on use of music and video Teach fair use

 Be clear on expectations  Create rubrics to accompany assignments and share them with your students  Break projects into smaller parts and set due dates Make students responsible

 Technology usage in the world is growing  Give students a leg up by using technology in your instruction and requiring them to use it on their assignments  Start small and continually think how technology can be integrated in more lessons and assignments  The little you do each day will add up!
