1 Legal/ Ethical Guidelines in the Research and/or Production Process Copyright and Fair Use Academic Integrity

2 When you put a passage from a source into your own words and you give credit to the source. When you use a passage from a source word for word and you give credit to the source. Works (music, images, etc.) that are either ineligible for copyright protection or have expired copyrights. They are available for people to use without having to cite the source. 3 This is a legal tool where the author may grant (or not) permission to distribute, modify, perform, copy, display, or otherwise use the intellectual property. When it is okay to use copyrighted work for purposes such as criticism, comments, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research. It is not an infringement of copyright. When you put only the main points of a passage into your own words and you give credit to the source. When you take someone else's work or ideas and you do not give credit to the source.
