The Highland Games And what it goes with, The Scotch Whisky

The Highland Games Caber Toss Stone Put Scottish Hammer Throw Weight Throw Weight Over The Bar Sheaf Toss Non-Suicidal Games

Caber Toss The competitor is holding a long pine trunk which must be thrown in the air and spin over an angle of 180°. Everybody can play… Even WOMENS… Even Paraplegics…

Stone Put The stone put is like the shot put that you can see on the Olympic games the only difference is the weight of the stones. Scottish Hammer Throw It’s very similar to the modern Hammer Throw, also played on Olympics.

Weight Throw The weight is very similar to an Olympic Hammer, and must be turned before the launch, that gives more speed to the bowl. Weight over the bar A weight of 56 pounds must be put all over a bar, with only one hand, each guy can try to do it three times before getting eliminated.

Sheaf Toss You must throw a bag of straw that weights 20 pounds for men and 10 pounds for women with a pitchfork over a bar. The event is really looking like the Weight over the bar. Now let’s try things less dangerous.

The non-suicidal part. There are many non-suicidal events, like the sheep driving, your dog has to show the way to the pens to a herd of sheeps. It’s really based on how you educate your dog. There are also dancing shows and music.
