4 . Inverness is the city in the Highlands. It is the capital of the Highlands.

Inverness is situated in the mouth of the Ness river. The name of the town is known from the Gaelic ‘the mouth of the river Ness’.

6 In the 6th century the territory of Inverness was populated by the tribes of Picts.

7 Inverness Castle was built in 1053.

8 About 40,000 people live there Inverness is the fourth biggest city in Scotland.

9 The sightseeings of the town are Inverness museums, the Art Gallery and the old castles, hotels.

11 Another beautiful sight is lake Loch Ness ( loch is the Gaelic word for “lake”).

12 A very big animal called the Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, lives in Loch Ness. An old story tells about it , and thousands of tourists go there every year to look for it. But Nessie does not come. Perhaps this is just a story for tourists.
