What is the National Student Survey (NSS)? Annual survey of final year undergraduates across the UK Commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Run by Ipsos MORI (market research company) Fully supported by the National Union of Students (NUS) Takes less than 10 minutes to complete This year students have the chance to win one of four iPad minis

Why should you complete the NSS? It is your chance to tell us about your experience at university You will be helping us to improve the student experience at the University of Brighton You will be helping future students deciding where and what to study You will have the chance to win Amazon vouchers and help raise money for the Students’ Union

How are the results used? Data and comments are used by the university and the Students’ Union to improve the student experience. The data helps us identify areas where we are doing well, as well as areas for improvement, so improving the student experience for future students The NSS results are made available at Unistats.com and are used as part of the Key Information Set (KIS) on university’s websites to help future students make informed decisions of where and what to study.

As a result of the NSS Examples of how the university has used NSS results are available from student.brighton.ac.uk/nss/ For instance we made a commitment to hold student-staff meetings to enable us to understand your needs and to give us an opportunity to tell you what we are doing in response we redesigned assessment feedback sheets to highlight strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement after your comments about feedback on coursework
