1 Student feedback Your feedback provides real insight into the student experience and feeds into university processes and policies Feedback helps us: review courses so content is relevant and up-to-date improve and develop student services and support gain insight into being a student at the University of Brighton so we can improve your experience Student feedback is a key source of information and provides real insight into students’ experiences. We use this information to review courses, services, procedures and policies. We welcome both positive and negative views. The University relies on feedback from students to identify ways in which it can enhance learning opportunities, improve support services and the overall student experience.

2 Ways to feed back to the university
There are a number of ways that you can let us know what you think: Talk to your course tutor Talk to school staff Through Student Services Through the Students’ Union or your Students’ Union course rep In your final year through the National Student Survey There are formal processes that look at student feedback You can provide feedback throughout the year and at any stage of your course. There are a number of ways in which you can tell us of your experiences whether that is through your course rep and the Students’ Union, by talking to your tutor or school staff, by visiting Student Services, or by completing a course or module survey. In your final year, you will be asked to complete the National Student Survey. Every year, the University reviews feedback received from students at all levels (NSS and course and module evaluation). Formal action plans are drawn up detailing what needs to be done to address areas of concern and changes which were made in response to previous feedback are formally reviewed. In this way, feedback from students on one course can affect other students across the University.

3 National Student Survey
The survey is for final year undergraduate students It takes place in the Spring term It’s the only survey that all universities do and provides future students with some measure of what it’s like to study here It is important that every student completes the survey, whether you have strong opinions or are broadly satisfied The survey and your comments provide the university with real insight into courses and processes so it can adapt to remain fit for the challenges of the 21st century and continue to be a place you are proud of. This is a national survey which includes all final year undergraduate students in the UK. It is administered by the external polling company Ipsos MORI. The survey takes place in the Spring Term. It is launched in early January and finishes on the 30th of April. It is uniform across all universities in the country and the results are published on the Unistats website to help prospective students decide what to study and which university to apply to. By completing the survey, final year students are an invaluable source of information on the courses which each university offers and what it is like to be a student at that university. To get a rounded picture of the course, it is important that every student completes the survey. The more students who complete the survey, the more representative the results are. Each university receives anonymised comments from students who completed the survey. This gives us a real insight into the issues that are of most concern to you, and helps us make changes to ensure that we are able to meet your needs. By telling us what you think, you have a direct impact both on your course and on the University as a whole.

4 Your feedback makes a difference
For example in one course: You asked for better feedback on your assessed work. What we did: The feedback form has been redesigned to encourage markers to offer detailed and consistent feedback And in another course You asked for WiFi access in the clinical teaching rooms. What we did The school has installed WiFi and funding has been secured to develop simulation facilities
