2 What is the NSS? Commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) on behalf of all the funding bodies Annual survey of final year undergraduates across the UK Quick and easy to complete Conducted by Ipsos MORI

4 What will the NSS ask me? In addition the University of Bath also asks additional questions about important issues to you and us: Workload Work Placements Social Opportunities (inc. Clubs and Societies) Students’ Union Course Content and Structure Course Delivery

5 How are the results used?
The NSS results are made publicly available to help prospective students make informed decisions of where and what to study. Institutions are provided with the anonymised data to help them identify areas where they are doing well, as well as areas for development, for the purpose of improving the student learning experience for future generations of students.

As a result of what students have said, in partnership, the University and Students’ Union, have made changes: Examples include: Introducing a new skills development web page as a first step in delivering a ‘one-stop-shop’ Virtual Skills Hub Investing in a new city centre hub, The Virgil Building, on Manvers Street, providing brand new learning space and access to student support services Opening 4 East South, creating purpose-built brand new learning, teaching and research space Increasing the amount of learning space with new Learning Commons in 6 West South and 6 East and improving the Library Securing £3.5m investment to develop the Gym in the Sports Training Village which will more than double the current capacity

As a result of what students have said, in partnership, the University and Students’ Union, have made changes: Examples include: Embedding anonymous marking, where practical, across the University Recording more lectures than even before Introducing a new Residential Life and Wellbeing service to provide more pastoral support Opening two 10 West, creating purpose-built brand new learning, teaching and research space Introducing in-class completion of Online Unit Evaluations and improving the ways we let you know what action we are taking in response to your feedback.

9 The survey is undertaken independently by Ipsos MORI
You can now complete the NSS online using a PC, smartphone or tablet At no point will students be identified to their institution - your responses to the survey are anonymised
