Scanning coordination and shift organization in Bern (1) 3 Location speed in Jun-Aug was not stable – Manpower for scanning 3-4 physicists are reduced from scanning shifts. – 4 microscopes devoted to OPERA – July was vacation season in Switzerland – Main manpower was used for the test exposure at CERN in Aug (~1month) Thanks to Çağın Güneş (Ankara) for her contribution from July A new guy (non physicist) started to help data taking from 2weeks ago

New strategy – Prediction scan base -> volume scan base (location quality does not change) – Reduce human needed work even increasing scanning time – Reduce dead time of 4microscopes with plate changer (night, weekend)  may increase location speed factor ?? – Now trying to establish new way.. Scanning coordination and shift organization in Bern (2) CS prediction Volume scan Manual confirmation

One of bottle neck: problems on lateral marks for the already delivered bricks (some lines too near to edge or too thin) – Problems were investigated by BH people. – Please monitor regularly at GS. Examples Scanning coordination and shift organization in Bern (3)

Remote monitor for night and weekend Scanning coordination and shift organization in Bern (4) 4 microscopes can be remotely monitored by a person. Mark measurement can be helped manually by remote. An example automatic measurement failed (horizontal line near to edge and some scratches)

Event CC?

Possible gamma off vertex? (event ) A track with IP 338  m to 1ry. – p ~1GeV –  possibility not excluded. Under checking – Some other tracks not confirmed in vertex plate. – Efficiency is bad.. 1mm

Summary and prospect Location speed in Jun-Aug was not stable with manpower problem and lateral mark problem. Now trying to increase location speed by reducing dead time of microscopes.
