4 Problems in ventilation control units of the proton target
CNGS 2007 RUN CNGS integrated intensity from Sept. 24th to Oct 20th 2007: 20/10/07 12/10/07 Comissioning Physics Problems in ventilation control units of the proton target 9/10/07 pot 59 : CNGS very stable at pot/day Nominal intensity : pot /yr (1yr=200 days) 5/10/07 pot

5 2007 run :  Interactions in the Target
326 expected events in bricks 38 events registered during the CNGS run : 29 CC NC p.o.t. Brick handling, Film Processing, Scanning : first test on real neutrino interactions

Europe Japan All events 19 (15 CC, 4 NC) 19 (14 CC, 5 NC) Events confirmed in the CSd 18 Events located in the bricks 14 10 Interactions in TT 1 CS-Brick mismatch Analysis in progress 2 6 Not found Wall Finding : > 95% Brick Finding : 80% +- 7% For 28 events out of 36, analysis is almost completed On this small sample more data needed for a complete tuning

7 CS to brick: design accuracy in position and angle
Test-beam  = 22 µm  = 5 mrad

8 CS to brick connection for neutrino interactions
Data quality looks fine  = 54 µm  = 9 mrad Systematical uncertainties (gap, marks, …) dominate

9 Scan-back accuracy  = 4 µm  = 2 mrad

331 events passed the analysis cut 303 had been expected: ratio similar to the one observed in 2006 CNGS operated in the same conditions as in 2006 run Muon vertical angle Energy of the muon (RPC)

Brick Preparation CS-Analysis x-ray markings for alignment  ~ 10 mm connection of CS-doubletts and brick search area is scanned for track with matching angle x-ray machine brick (first emulsion) CS2 CS1 150 mm Blackness of spot allows to identify the side of emulsion Brick-Alignment x-ray markings  ~ 40 mm first film to film connection film number identifier

Line for the automated emulsion development 5 chains ready 3 fully operatives Full Rehersal before ‘08 run Maximum rate: ~ 50 bricks/day (16 hours)

R&D on 20 cm2/h European Scanning System completed successfully (end 2004) 31 ESS distributed among 10 labs ( 23 ESS in 8 Italian labs ): Bari, Bern, Bologna, Lngs, Lyon, Napoli, Padova, Salerno, Roma, LNF Integrated in a online computers network : including DB, manager , on line computation , plate changer …..
