By Jarrett Schreiner

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 in England. She had seven other brothers and sisters and her mother and father. As she grew older her father was sick and she took care of him till he came back to health. She later got in to writing and made her first Juvenilia and was well written and had funny and humorous parts. Later on in her life she was going to get married but later canceled and it was called off. So after this happen she moved away with her mother and sister to a different place.

 When she moved to new house she revised her book “Sense and Sensibility” to make it better sounding. After this other book First Impressions was renamed Pride and Prejudice and was one of her famous books. She started another book called Emma and this book was six months after Pride and Prejudice. These books were famous at the time and coasted a little money but the people bought them and liked them.

 It is about a wealthy man named Mr. Bingly who is moving to a new house. He moves beside a family who is the Bennet family. His friend Mr. Darcy is kind of an annoying person and Mr. Bingly doesn’t really like him all that well. Elizabeth’s older sister goes over to visit but the weather doesn’t look good and it starts to rain heavily. As she gets there she catches a cold and she has to stay in Netherfield for a couple days but she gets well enough to get out of bed.

 Mr. Darcy pays a visit to see Jane and he begins to like her and wants to get to know her a little better. After that a clergy man named Mr. Collins pays a visit to the Bennet family. He has come here to choose a wife and he singles out Elizabeth but he doesn’t know that she is seeing an officer named Mr. Wickman and she starts to dislike Mr. Darcy. There is a ball in the middle of the story and Mr. Bingly will marry Jane later on in the day. After the ball in the morning Mr. Collins goes to purpose to Elizabeth but he finds her and asks the question. Sadly she says no but it’s good that she said no because she has a guy she likes.

 The first literary device that Jane Austen used in her novel is the style and how she uses it good in her novels. Style is manner of expression; how a speaker or writer says what he says.

 Sense and sensibility is a story that tells the life of the Dashwood sisters and what their life is like. It tells about how three sisters move into a new house after their father dies. The owner of the house is their father’s half brother John. Their father told them that their brother will take care of them but John’s wife tells them not and she will be much hated throughout this book. The sisters get a low income and have little to no money. Marianne gets injured later in the story when she slips in the rain and she sprains her ankle. A man named John Willoughby helps her and she begins to like him and they get engaged but no one knows about the couple.

 When she does get better she is told about the visit by Mr. Willoughby and she doesn’t want to know about any of it. Later they find out that Lucy has gotten married and Elinor is devastated. Later on though the sisters get married and come closer together. In later months and years Elinor marries a man named Edward and even though Marianne was heartbroken she marries A colonel by the name of Brandon and this shows that the sense and the sensibility can come together even when the times are bad but that is life.

 My review of the two books are that they are good and that if you read these books you will have a change in attitude in what you have and how. All in all Jane Austen is a very good writer and good some people have it. Jane Austen at the end is a good Author she took time in what she wanted to write and did it very well.
