Units of Credit 4 x 4 block schedule Earned typically in 1.0 unit per course Posted every 18 weeks (once per semester) Require passing grades (70 or higher)

How do you earn credit? 1.0 unit per single period course 4 courses per semester = 4 units 2 semesters (8 courses) = 8 units 4 years of high school (4 x 8) = 32 units

Why do units of credit matter? Units determine grade level and promotion. 10th grade: 6.0 units Units must include 1.0 unit ELA, 1.0 unit math, 1.0 unit science, 1.0 unit social studies plus at least two additional units 11th grade: 12.0 units Includes 2.0 units of each: ELA, math, science, social studies plus at least four elective units 12th grade: 18.0 units Includes 3.0 units of each: ELA, math, science, social studies plus at least six elective units

How many units are required? 26 units are required in Glynn County for the Class of 2014 (23--state required plus 3 local) 32 possible units

Graduation Requirements 1.Earn 26 units of credit, a local minimum 2.Complete specific course requirements 3.Pass all 5 sections of the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) and complete End Of Course Tests (EOCT)

GHSGT Information Writing—fall of 11 th grade Other 4 tests—spring of 11 th grade 5 opportunities to pass each test before graduation; remediation offered May not participate in graduation ceremonies in May 2014 unless passing scores are posted on all five tests
