IDENTIFICATION Title: The Swing (after Fragonard) Date: 2001 Artist: Yinka Shonibare - Born in Current home is in London - Family moved to Nigeria when he was 3 - Went back to Britain when he was 17 - Shonibare contracted transverse myelitis and one side of his body became paralyzed

CONTENT Based on an iconic Rococo painting by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, also called The Swing Depicts a young woman in a pink dress in a garden on a swing The woman is watched by two men - one pushes her from behind a tree, while the other lies in the beneath her to look up her skirt
