November 5th, 2015 FBLA Competitive Events: Role Play A Samantha Noor & Samia Noor

WHAT ARE ROLE PLAY EVENTS? ✤ Role play events are at both section and state level. ✤ They typically include an objective test at the section level, and then an objective test plus a judged presentation at the state level ✤ There are also certain role play events that begin at the state level!

Section Competition: Global Business ✤ Objective test & team event (2-3 people per team) ✤ Concepts: Basic international concepts, ownership and management, marketing, finance, communication (including culture and language) ✤ If you advance to state you will do an objective test and a role play event regarding an international business scenario.

Section Competition: Entrepreneurship ✤ Objective test & team performance (2-3 people) ✤ At section, you will take an objective test focusing on business start up rules and regulations. ✤ If you advance to state, you will do another objective test along with a performance regarding a case scenario with entrepreneurship.

Section Competition: Hospitality Management ✤ Objective test & team performance (2-3 people) ✤ At section you will take an objective test regarding public relations, business etiquette, publicity & industry. ✤ If you advance to state, you will take an objective test and do an interactive hospitality case presentation.

State Competition: Banking & Financial Systems ✤ Objective test & team performance (2-3 people) ✤ Concepts and practices: basic terminology, government regulation of financial services, impact of technology on financial services, types/differences of various institutions, ethic, careers in financial services, taxation ✤ If you advance to state you will do a case scenario regarding banking in the business community.

State competition: Client Service ✤ Individual presentation, starts at the state level ✤ Simulation where you provide ways for clients to solve problems on the spot ✤ Must display strong communication and problem solving skills spontaneously

State Competition: Help Desk ✤ Individual, objective test & performance ✤ Concepts: communication & customer management ✤ Performance is a simulation of dealing with a particular case and client and coming to a resolution.

Section to State ✤ If at Section you place in top 3 or in some categories top 5, you move onto state ✤ At state, for the objective test + performance events, you take the objective test first. If you make it in the top 15 scores, you proceed to the performance round. ✤ For the performance round you have 20 minutes prep time and 7 minutes presentation time.
