Joella C. Good Elementary

Mrs. J. Ledo – Math/Science Mrs. V. Gonzalez – Reading/Language Arts/Social Studies

By now ALL students should have the necessary school supplies. Please make sure your child comes to school prepared daily and ready to learn.

Students are to walk to the P.E. shelter every morning and sit with their class. School begins at 8:35. Students are NOT allowed to wait for their teacher by the classroom. Parents please keep in mind that our school is a CLOSED CAMPUS. Only authorized personnel may enter the building. This enables all children to be safe, with supervision in order to have an instructional day.

All students should know the way they are to go home daily. In order to safeguard the safety & security of students a written notification MUST be provided to the office or the teacher. If your child is PARENT PICK UP, you will receive a colored paper with your child’s name & teacher’s name on it. We ask that you place the paper on the dashboard (passenger side) to make the parent pick up traffic flow easier.

On rainy days, parents are allowed to pick up students in their classrooms.

Student attendance is a means of improving student performance. We must work together to make every effort to minimize the loss of instructional time to students. If your child is absent from school please make sure to send a note with your child the next day.

Please make sure you have filled out your child’s lunch form. It may also be done online. Remember it is one application per family. Cut off for lunch application is September 20 th.

Our school is a Title I school. This program allows our school extra funding for extra resources for our students, Reading/Math Coaches & for tutoring.

Students will receive Home Learning DAILY. Home Learning may be a written assignment or the use of a computer assignment. Please check & sign your child’s PLANNER nightly to ensure home learning was completed. 4 th graders should be reading nightly and practicing multiplication facts.

This will be the last year that all students will take the FCAT Test. Beginning next year the students will take the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness in College and Career) which is aligned to Common Core Standards.

All 4 th grade students will take the FCAT Writing test. Students will receive a prompt and will be given 60 minutes to respond to the prompt in essay form.

This year we are using a binder management system called “WOW Binder”. This is a tool that helps students stay organized. Students will use this binder for both teachers and keep all their work in one place. Parents will be able to see the binder nightly and keep track of their child’s progress, home learning and class work. At the end of each quarter we will clean out our WOW Binder and start again.

Please feel free at anytime you have questions or concerns to write us a note in your child’s planner or send us an .

Parent/Guardians of all Miami-Dade County Public Schools have access to the parent You must first obtain a PIN number from the main office and your child’s ID number to establish a parent user account. You will then be able to create a parent login to see your child’s grades, attendance & important information.

Please refer to the Student-Parent Handbook that you have received if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to school procedures or rules.

for taking the time to attend Open House! We look forward to working with you and your child this year. It is going to be a wonderful year filled with exciting learning activities!
