The Centra Screen – Participant’s Toolbar These are the tools you use to help you communicate to other participants.

The Centra Screen – Participant Toolbar When you click on this, a hand will appear next to your name notifying the leader that you would like to ask a question or make a comment.

The Centra Screen – Participant Toolbar When you click on this, a green check mark will appear next to your name. Use this to respond “yes” to a question or to agree with something someone else has said.

The Centra Screen – Participant Toolbar When you click on this, a red “X” will appear next to your name. Use this to respond “no” to a question.

The Centra Screen – Participant Toolbar When you click on this, a smiley face will flash next to your name.

The Centra Screen – Participant Toolbar When you click on this, clapping hands will flash next to your name. Use this to give someone a round of applause.

Talking in Centra There are three ways you can talk in Centra. –1) Hold down the control button on your keyboard while you are talking. Release the control button when you finish talking. (recommended) –2) Click (and hold the click) on the talk icon. –3) Click the lock to talk icon and unclick the icon when you are done talking. –Note: Your microphone icon will always have a yellow background when your microphone is in use.

What is the status of your connection? At the bottom right of your screen there are five squares. green – excellent connection yellow – satisfactory connection red – bad connection (may get kicked off Centra)

The Centra Screen – Audio Area Audio Area - Use the controls in this area to adjust the volume of your speakers/microphone.

The Centra Screen – Presenter’s Area Presenter’s Area – The names of your leader(s) will appear here.

The Centra Screen – Participant’s Area Participant’s Area – The names of all participants will appear here.

The Centra Screen – Agenda Area Agenda Area – A list of the topics you will discuss in the session will appear here.

The Centra Screen – Whiteboard Tools When you have a microphone icon next to your name you can access the whiteboard tools. Roll your mouse over each icon to see what each icon represents.

How to work in a breakout room. When you are put into a breakout room, one person will be designated as the leader. This person’s name will appear in the “Presenter’s Area”. The leader needs to be sure to give everyone a microphone so you can talk to each other in the breakout room.

Introductions of Participants – Assign #1 1) In your breakout rooms you will introduce yourselves to each other and use the whiteboard to record all information shared. Pick someone in your breakout room that you will introduce to the whole class. 2) Save your whiteboard to the agenda by clicking on the disk icon and saving the whiteboard as a name that best describes your group.
