You may have to switch from computer audio to headphone device. 8 Voice over Internet Click the Microphone Button to talk. The microphone icon highlights in blue next to your name. – Please give us a little greeting with your name and your department. Click the Talk Button to TURN OFF your microphone – It is a take turns or walkie-talkie fashion. Maximum of 6 microphones at once, but Moderator may choose to set max to any number between 1 and 6. – I recommend 2 or 3 max simultaneous talkers.

9 Web Cameras 1.Click Preview – Option for color 2.Click Video to begin sharing – If you would like to speak, don’t forget to also click the microphone button. – What courses are you teaching in the summer or fall? Do you teach any courses online? 3.Click Video again to turn your web camera off

10 Live Chat Teaching Tip: Prepare discussion questions before class. What are the benefits to using Live Chat during lessons when you may also be using microphones and web cameras? Type in the white box and push enter. Different tabs for whole room vs. moderators

11 Private Chat To send a private chat, right click on a name in the participants window or hover over a name to get the options menu. Click Send a Private Chat. Chat opens new tab. Note: Moderators have the option to supervise all private chats.

15 Uploading a PowerPoint 1.Click Load Content 2.Browse to File on your computer, Click Open - you may see a progress bar or PowerPoint open, do not close anything, just wait for it to finish loading 3.Use Page Explorer to reorder slides if needed - if you need to reopen page explorer at anytime, click icon in top right that has drop down arrow

22 Scheduling a Blackboard Collaborate Session Give a Session Title – Recommend using course name and date

23 Scheduling a Blackboard Collaborate Session Date – set the Start Date and End Date. Session can be for a specific date and time or set to run over a longer period of time for example for a full semester or term. Early session entry – the period of time before the start of the session during which users can join the session.

26 More Session Options Restrict Participants – to restrict access to the session to a sub-set of the participants registered in the course. Participants can then be assigned the role of Moderator or Participant. Allow Unregistered Guest - If a session has been set to allow unregistered guests, an HTTP web address will be created. This link can be copied and pasted into emails or documents to distribute to guests you wish to invite to the session. Select Allow Unregistered Guests to invite by email a guest who is not registered in the course. The link will be specific to that invitee. To find this link again later, locate your session in the list. Click the chevron to the right of its name to open the options menu, then select Guest Link.
