1 ConnectPro User Guide for Students

2 Logging in Your teacher will give you a login address during lectures or via . Students usually login as guest. Type your name and click ”Enter Room”. You can also login with your VAMK ID. Write your login and password and click “Enter Room”.

3 Overview Log out by clicking the red cross at the right corner of the browser. The overview doesn’t always look the same because the host/teacher can modify the layout.

4 Features and their uses
The feature’s usability depends on the rights given to you by the host/teacher. Camera and Voice This feature allows to use portable camera and headset while exchanging information over the internet. Note The host/teacher usually writes instructions here. Attendee List This displays the names of the parties taking part of the virtual-conference. Here you can also change your status. Chat The chat is always available to the participants. You can write to everyone or write privately to someone. Remember that the host/teacher see every message even if they are written privately. File Share The host/teacher can upload files here and you can save the files to your computer. Share You can share files with everyone. Choose the file from your computer. The file appears in each attendees screen. Web Links The host/teacher can share web links. The link opens to a new window when you click it.

5 Audio Test 1/2 Meeting -> Manage My Settings -> Audio Setup Wizard The audio test has to be done every time. Click “Test” to test the speakers. If you don’t hear the music click “Help”. Click “Next” to begin the test. Click “Next” to continue.

6 Audio Test 2/2 Select a microphone from the list. If you are not sure which device to choose, click ”Next”. Click ”Record” and speak clearly to the microphone. Click stop when you are ready and click play to hear your recording. Click “Next” to continue. Click always ”Allow” to this notice. Otherwise your camera and microphone won’t work. Click ”Test Silence” to detect the amount of background noise around you. When the bar is filled, click ”Next”. The audio test is completed. Click ”Help” if you are still having problems with the sound or camera. Click ”Next” to continue.

7 Camera and Voice The participants do not have the camera and voice rights automatically. The host will give the rights when needed. Click always “Allow” to this notice. Click this to turn on the camera. Click this to see more features.

8 Status You can take part to the conversation by using these functions. You can use these functions to comment. For example “Raise Hand”, the teacher/host will give you a turn to speak. Roles When you speak, press Talk-button down, hold it down while you are speaking. You can also use the hands free function. Remember to turn the hands free off when you are done. Participant Presenter The host/teacher will give the roles. Students are usually participants and have limited rights. When it is your turn to present something, the host gives you the presenter role. Host/Teacher

9 File Share Choose a file from your computer that you want to share. You can also share your computer screen. When you login to ConnectPro for the first time, a notice box shows on the right corner. Click “Install” to proceed. The file appears in each attendees screen. You can share it full screen by clicking the full screen button. When you are done click “Stop Sharing”. Click ”Yes” to this notice.
