A Block: Tues/Wed, Feb 15/16 Welcome! Bell work: In your groups, take out your brainstorming maps and pick out the top three problems that an emperor might face. All you need is a pencil Homework: Complete the Ch 7.3 handout.

Daily Agenda China Quiz The Role of government Activity:  Break class into groups and create labels for the three groups  Determine the three problems most likely to occur in a large empire (rebellion is off the table).  Each group will need to figure out how it would deal with the problem.  Each group will present how it would help the emperor solve the problem.

Bureaucracy Bureaucracy is how a government is organized to do its work. The government has a body of unelected officials to complete the day-to-day tasks of a ruler. We are going to be competing today to figure out which group has the best plan to help the emperor.

Directions After you break into your groups, send one person up to obtain your group’s worsheets. Read over your roles, and have one person read your intro paragraph to the class. Give your top three problems The Emperor (Mr. Melrose) will give a problem that he may see during his rule. Put these in the “If” section In your groups, discuss the problem and how your group would help the emperor. Put your answer in the “then” section.

Directions The Emperor (Mr. Melrose) will give a problem that he may see during his rule. Put these in the “If” section In your groups, discuss the problem and how your group would help the emperor. Put your answer in the “then” section. The chancellors will be moving around the groups, asking each group to explain their solution to them, which they will report to the Emperor. Each group will need to consider their role when they come up with their solution.

Presenting your solution Each group will have about 7 minutes to come up with a solution. We will then go about the room, and each group will present their solution. You will need to take down notes the other groups solutions. After we finish your four solutions, you will need to present a final pleading as to why your group should help the emperor.
