You have just joined the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, uniting computing educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources and address the field’s challenges. This presentation will help you navigate your way around the ACM.

You’ve Just Joined ACM: What Should You Do? 1.Make sure you provide us with your *real* address (as opposed to your “acm.org” forwarding address); most of our Customer Service Representatives’ contact with members is via . Need help? 2.You need to create a *free* ACM Web Account in order to access many of ACM’s online services, e.g., the ACM Digital Library, online books and courses, myACM, etc. To create an account, go to myACM (under the ACM logo) and click on “Web Account.” 3. You might have completed a Technical Interest Profile (TIP) when you first joined, but if not, you should complete one now [HOW?] ACM will use your Profile information to customize your *monthly* Technical Interest Profile Alerts; these alerts will provide you with information about articles from the Digital Library, Special Interest Group Conferences, online books and courses that match your technical interests.

When you join ACM, you will receive: –A Welcome message thanking you for your membership that includes your member number, and information about how you can set your spam filtering using the Postini service. –A link to the Technical Interest Profile (TIP) if you did not complete it when you joined. –An alert for ACM’s 3x weekly e-news digest TechNews within your first month of joining; this is one of ACM’s most popular benefits. –An alert for ACM’s monthly membership e-newsletter MemberNet, within your first month of joining. –An alert for ACM’s bi-monthly e-career digest CareerNews within your second month of joining.
