Supplies Book – Self-selected Binder with 5 dividers Composition Book Pencil Highlighter

Students are encouraged to share the selected material with their parents/guardians at home.

Grades are divided into the following categories and are weighted accordingly:  Novel Assessments, selected reading responses, and end of quarter reflections: 55%

Novel Assessments These are assessments to be completed based on the students’ self-selected novels. Selected Reading Response These are assessments based on a reading selection completed in class. End of Quarter Response Reflections/Responses based on what the student learned during the quarter.

Homework: 10% Students are expected to read 20 min. daily and complete an Independent Reading assignment every week.

Other : 35% Classwork Quizzes Reading Log/Book Slips Home Book Share Page Goal Participation/Preparation

Page Goal Students are required to read a certain number of books each quarter as follows: 1 st quarter – 550 pages *** 55 pts. 2 nd quarter – 600 pages *** 60 pts. 3 rd quarter – 650 pages *** 65 pts. 4 th quarter – 700 pages *** 70 pts.
