Equality is not about treating everyone the same. It is about creating an environment where everyone is given an equal opportunity to make a success of their lives, regardless of their background. The word diverse means “varied and different” so ‘ diversity ’ is about valuing variety and individual differences and creating a culture, environment and practices which respect and value differences for the benefit of society, organisations and individuals. What do equality and diversity mean?

We all have a duty to report concerns if we think someone is being abused or neglected. If you think a service user is being abused or neglected, inform your Area Coordinator or supervisor to find out who you should report your concerns to.
