Sixth Grade

 Elements of art are TOOLS that artists use to create art. It helps communicate visually.  Line, shape, texture, value, color, form and space.  So far we have seen how SHAPE can be used to break up space. We have used shapes and space to communicate meaning to a viewer and NOW we will use line to show space!  BASICALLY YOUR OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS FOR THESE!

 Line  Space  Horizon line  Depth  Vanishing point  Elements of art

 Tools used to show the ILLUSION of space on a two dimensional plane (paper)  REMEMBER  As things go further in space they do get smaller and darker  As things get closer to you, they get larger and lighter

 Three different view points  Birds eye view- the view point is from above and looks down (example: your in an airplane looking down)  Worms eye view- your viewpoint in down below (example: your sitting on the ground).  Straight on view- view point is in the middle. (example: standing up at ground level).  As the viewpoint changes, so does the horizon line

 Leonardo DaVinci, the last supper. Jesus is the vanishing point so that all lines point to HIM! The main idea!

 You will create a perspective drawing of a house.  Create a relief print using glue and chalk  Pay attention to size and space and viewpoint
