There is an Irish story about a guy named stingy jack. One day stingy jack talked the devil into having a drink with him. Stingy jack convinced the devil to turn himself into a coin to pay for the drinks. Stingy Jack decided to keep the coin, and he put him in his pocket next to a cross which prevented him into changing back to his original form. Jack eventually freed him under the condition, that he would not bother Jack for 1 year and when he died he did not claim his hand. A year later Jack got the devil to climb a fruit tree, & Jack carved a cross in the tree. Jack made another deal that the devil could not bother him for 10 years. The legend goes God would not let an unsavory figure into Heaven. So the devil sent jack into the night with only a piece of coal to light his way. L JACK O’ LATTERNS..
