2. Halloween is eve of All saints’ day(11/1). Originally, it was a Celtic religious event, which was for the dead and fire. They thought that the dead would wake from death on All saints’ day. So this is quite similar to Obon in Japan. Because those who came to life was thought to be evil ones, people offer some food so that they would not give any harm. And later, it has been taken into Christianity. It is not a official holiday in U.S.A, but about 50% of people in America celebrate this day! And because of Halloween, in U.S.A, autumn is the season for ghost story.

3. FORMER and NOW FORMER People walk around in a village asking for “soul cakes”. raisin breads. which was called “soul cakes”. It was said that the more the breads were given, the more prayer would be given to people who died before.
