U.S. Department of Agriculture eGovernment Program 5 Based on revised Project Plans, we will present agency heads with an “inventory” of agency Presidential Initiative responsibilities.  eGovernment Team is creating a matrix (a draft of which has been sent to all PI Leads) that will: Map each USDA agency to the action items needed to fulfill PI goals (participation of agency personnel in planning sessions/other initiative activities, collection of requirements, etc.) Provide accountability for PIs across all participating USDA agencies Track agency progress and inform the overall SES Scorecard based on the ability to meet the specific action items  eGovernment Team will assist Leads in providing monthly updates on: Progress in meeting milestones USDA Agency support of the initiatives USDA Agency Action Steps Have you included Agency Action Steps in your Project Plan or submitted action steps in the matrix we provided ?

U.S. Department of Agriculture eGovernment Program 9 PI Working Group Charter Updates We have updated the PI Charter to reflect the changes in USDA’s Presidential Initiatives participation and responsibilities over the past year.  Main focus on formally establishing existing processes and responsibility, not creating new ones. For the PI leads, the items now included in the Charter include:  Underscoring the need and responsibility to create and regularly update USDA project plans  Creating and maintaining “Where We Would Proud to Be” documentation for OMB  Contributing updates and other information for quarterly reports to the Secretary and OMB  Meeting quarterly with the Chief Information Officer to provide updates and discuss future plans. The Charter also more specifically describes the role of the eGovernment Program, in supporting the PI leads. A hard copy of the charter is being provided; an electronic version is available on the Presidential Initiatives page of the USDA eGovernment Web site.

U.S. Department of Agriculture eGovernment Program 12 Next Steps If you have not reviewed and revised the Agency Action Steps for your Presidential Initiatives, please do so by COB Thursday (February 12).  Please send any updates—to either your project plan or to the Agency Action Item Matrix (or both, if applicable) to the eGovernment Mailbox  If you have reviewed the Agency Action Item Matrix and you have no additions/revisions or there are no action items for your initiative, please let us know. A draft of the quarterly report on USDA’s Presidential Initiatives contributions has been assembled and is now being reviewed and revised—thank you for providing updates for the report. Finalize MOUs to include both the standard paragraph we have provided and the USDA Project Plan; obtain concurrence of Managing Partner. Quarterly meetings with Scott Charbo have begun; please let us know if you have not been contacted by his office to schedule a meeting.
