4 U.S. Department of Agriculture eGovernment Program 4 Enablers Business Cases – Current Status Draft business cases complete Draft business cases for all three Enablers have been circulated for review across the Department All of the many comments received on the business cases have been reviewed and incorporated Based on the project plan developed by the eGovernment team to successfully gain approval for the business cases, we have been meeting with key decision makers and IT leaders Completed briefings include Agency CIOs, Departmental Associate CIOs Upcoming briefings include Under Secretaries, Executive Work Group Members, and EITIRB Members

6 U.S. Department of Agriculture eGovernment Program 6 Enablers Business Cases – EC Funding Memo The eGovernment Executive Council has been working on a memo to the EITIRB outlining a funding strategy and a framework for moving forward with the Enablers: All three Enabler business cases recommended to advance to Control phase of capital planning process Due to likely FY 2003 budget constraints, funding for the initiatives will be prioritized so that the most critical ones move forward as soon as possible Details of agency contributions and other funding sources will be determined in the near future, after the overall funding strategy/framework is finalized The memo also addresses USDA’s contributions to the Presidential eGovernment Initiatives, providing a general framework for obtaining the necessary funding
